Pine Street School is hiring a Spanish Elementary Teacher


Pine Street School inspires children in Nursery Ones through 8th Grade to become curious, capable, and compassionate global citizens. Through the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and immersive language learning in Spanish or Mandarin—and the addition of German in Middle School—our program fosters critical thinking, creativity, and a deep sense of purpose. HOW YOU WILL SUPPORT PINE STREET SCHOOL STUDENTS

  • Plan and employ appropriate, interdisciplinary learning experiences for individual, small and whole group instruction using various teaching methods appropriate for language immersion settings
  • Collaborate with PYP colleagues to develop the school's ethos and support relationships amongst students of all ages
  • Guide and support parents through the rich and complex experience of the PYP, helping them learn what their children are capable of and how they can best support them in our program
  • Actively utilize New York City as a resource for learning and involve your students in sustainable community service projects and experiences
  • Maximize student language learning by utilizing the target language consistently in the classroom and collaborate with other dual language team members to develop and improve our language curriculum
  • Implement technology as tool that empowers learners to broaden the expression of an idea (often artistically), innovate, solve a problem, learn something new, verify information, and communicate and collaborate with others
  • We work with students individually and in groups, by selecting and employing various teaching methods appropriate for language immersion settings. All teachers are responsible for preparing materials and classrooms for activities, including photocopying, laminating, etc.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in subject area(s), Master’s degree is highly desired.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years elementary teaching experience
  • A valid teaching certification (or equivalent) for Elementary Education
  • Fluent in English (able to successfully attend workshops, read professional information and work collaboratively in the language.)
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Strong experience with Apple technology implementation
