Full Job Description Job Title: GED/CDOS Teacher Department: HGLCS Title of Immediate Supervisor: Principal
POSITION SUMMARY: The GED Teacher is responsible for preparing and delivering instruction to adult learners seeking to earn their General Educational Development (GED) diploma. The teacher will monitor/assist students with online GED platform, assess student progress, and provide supplemental instruction in the core subject areas: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: 1. Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with GED test objectives 2. Develop and update lesson plans, instructional materials, and progress reports in alignment with student needs and program goals 3. Direct student behavior and activities so that the accomplishment of goals is facilitated 4. Support students in setting academic and career goals aligned with GED attainment 5. Work in collaboration with GED testing site coordinators 6. Provide differentiated instruction based on individual learning needs 7. Monitor and assess student progress using formal and informal assessments 8. Maintain accurate attendance and student performance records 9. Prepare students for GED testing using practice exams and test-taking strategies 10. Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment 11. Collaborate with other instructors, counselors, and support staff 12. Participate in staff meetings and professional development 13. Refer students to additional resources or services as needed 14. Work in collaboration with Life Skills Coordinator to assist students in independent living skills 15. Integrate digital tools and technology to enhance instruction and student engagement 16. Follow weekly meeting schedule, attending team and content meetings. 17. Maintain valid NYS certification. 18. Maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and First Aid/CPR certification provided by the agency. 19. Attend all mandatory in-service training and regularly attends supervision meetings. Attends other training and in-services as needed to maintain a level of expertise in the field. 20. Any additional duties assigned by immediate supervisor.
