Job Description:
Our WG Teacher, specifically focused on general support for our elementary grades 3-4, plays a crucial role in supporting and fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for students in our community school.
We are seeking 1 full-time Teacher for a Classroom expansion and to support our team, in the levels of Grade 3-4/5, teaching core subjects and connecting youth to our 5.5-acre campus and outdoor learning spaces.
Duties
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Instructional Support:
- Research, design and facilitate lessons: Review concepts with students individually or in small groups.
- Adapt instructional materials: Collaborate with other teacher to modify materials and activities to meet the needs of all students.
- Present subject matter: present creative content to students, using various methods like lectures, discussions, or demonstrations/provocations (we are Reggio Emilia focused; our focus is nature-, science-, and enriching art/cultural education).
- Use technology with intent only and sparingly: Employ computers, and other equipment for planning and portfolio work.
- Classroom Management and Support:
- Supervise students: Oversee students, ensuring their safety and adherence to school policies.
- Be mindful and with high intention: support with a positive management strategy and assist with maintaining a culture of ‘yes’ and mindful.
- Set up the classroom: Prepare the learning space and materials, including organizing math and science supplies and displays.
- Prepare instructional materials: Gather materials, set up equipment.
- Support with Portfolio creation and be a team-player for activities and lessons.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work with our team: Collaborate on lesson planning, student progress, and addressing student needs.
- Communicate with parents: Provide feedback to parents about student progress and address any questions.
- Attend meetings: Participate in staff meetings, gatherings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Education: Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in education or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Experience working with children in a classroom or childcare setting for at least 1 year, internationally or nationally.
