The position serves to provide a successful, safe, and supervised educational setting for children while they are
in Mid-Columbia Children's Council's (MCCC's) environments. The Site Manager/Teacher has a primary
responsibility to promote the social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development of each child in
a safe and supervised environment while ensuring the center is meeting state and federal laws and regulations
as well as the organization's policies and procedures. They engage parents in all aspects of the program and
ensure each child's school readiness through collaboration with staff and community partners. The Site
Manager/Teacher holds a multifaceted position which requires the ability to monitor multiple priorities
simultaneously.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to:
MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP
1. Supervises and supports center staff and volunteers.
2. Models leadership behavior and teamwork.
3. Accurately completes, monitors, and maintains required records.
4. Ensures that every year, there are written site plans. Site plans will be monitored and updated as
needed.
5. Monitors and supports staff weekly with their priorities, time management/schedules, and completion
of all agency requirements.
6. Documents interactions with and observations of staff throughout the year to utilize in each
employee's annual evaluation.
7. In accordance with MCCC policies and procedures, delivers verbal warnings, written warnings, and
performance improvement plans to direct reports as needed. Site Manager/Teacher will be in direct
contact with their supervisor and Human Resources in these cases.
8. Completes all employee Performance Evaluations with 95% being submitted on time.
9. Reviews employee timesheets multiple times per week to ensure they are filled out accurately and in
real time; approves all biweekly timesheets on time.
10. Receives various documents from staff, ensures completion and accuracy of said documents, and
submits them to all necessary departments.
11. Maintains all site files for staff, ensuring that all documents (certification, licenses, etc) are up to date.
CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
12. Monitors approved learning activities and environments that support school readiness.
13. Engages families in all aspects of the program including, but not limited to, Policy Council, parent
committees, classroom volunteers, family engagement events, etc.
14. Collaborates with appropriate team and community members on a regular basis to assess and aid
children and families in meeting goals, providing services, and responding appropriately to any crisis or
emergency situations.
15. Coordinates student recruiting efforts to ensure full enrollment.
16. Provides back-up classroom coverage when teachers are out of the office and provides coverage as
needed for daily staff breaks and lunches.
17. Provides classroom management and facilitates the social and emotional development of children by
using MCCC's program policies and procedures, the Conscious Discipline Model, and Pyramid Model in
the prevention and intervention of challenging behaviors.
18. Provides a classroom structure that promotes experimentation, exploration, problem-solving,
cooperation, socialization, and choice-making.
19. Develops and implements lesson plans designed to promote physical, mental, and social development,
such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.
20. Completes required weekly observations and enters documentation into the appropriate database for
each child in order to ensure school readiness. Documentation forms may include, but is not limited to,
written anecdotal, videos and/or photos.
21. Assists in creating the site's Active Supervision Plan and closely adheres to it in order to ensure safety
and security for children, staff, and visitors.
22. Provides a variety of developmentally appropriate materials and resources for children to explore,
manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
23. Serves meals and snacks in accordance with Federal and State regulations and MCCC policies and
procedures.
24. Acts as an effective member of the teaching team by promoting collaboration through weekly planning
and conferencing, providing resources, daily classroom observations, and specific feedback, both
informally and formally.
25. Uses data from the online ongoing assessment system to develop and implement an individual
education plan for each child that is specific to his/her interests, strengths, and areas for growth and
development.
26. Engages in coaching, training, and reflective practices that lead to implemented classroom practices as
recommended by component coordinators, managers, and other approved specialists to increase
school readiness for children and families.
27. Conducts individual screenings on children including, but not limited to, Ages & Stages Questionnaire
(ASQ) and the Devereux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA); monitors all necessary screening results
and follow-up services.
28. Conducts two family-centered home visits and two family-teacher conferences with each family on
their caseload, ensuring that all home visit and conference requirements are met.
29. Promotes, encourages, and assists with implementation of parent engagement activities and/or events.
30. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with children and families.
31. Communicates professionally and with confidentiality to families, community partners, and staff.
32. Engages and supports families in their child's educational activities.
ADMINISTRATIVE
33. Maintains all required records.
34. Develops and utilizes integrated curriculum plans to fidelity, which include mandated elements and
components, parental, and cultural influences.
35. Submits lesson plans weekly for approval to an Education Coordinator. Lesson plans must include
required child individualization and must be submitted on-time at least 95% of the time
36. Stays abreast of current best practices in early childhood education by participating in all ongoing
required trainings.
FISCAL
37. Orders and maintains center supplies.
38. Completes all purchasing reviews and approvals at least twice per week in MCCC's finance software.
39. Completes monthly Visa report in MCCC's finance software and submits to the Finance department no
later than the 15th of each month.
40. Ensures inventory of center supplies is conducted and submitted to the Central Office accounting
department by June 30th
OTHER
41. Ensures a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity within all aspects of the program.
42. Learns and complies with all MCCC policies, procedures, State and Federal requirements.
43. Reports all suspected child abuse and neglect as a mandatory reporter.
44. Performs all other work-related duties as assigned.
