Founded in 1961, Sandy Spring Friends School is a progressive, coed, academically-rigorous day school serving students from age three through 12th grade. Upper School Math Teacher, Part Time (.6 FTE)
Summary: The Upper School (grades 9-12) seeks candidates for one part-time teacher in our Mathematics Department, focusing on teaching Calculus. We seek a dynamic, creative, and multifaceted professional to join our Math department. Experience teaching Calculus is highly desirable. The Math department develops confident problem-solvers who are fluent, flexible thinkers with an appreciation for the beauty and challenge of the subject. We seek an individual who is professional, and able to deliver high-quality, student-engaging instruction.
Qualifications: Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education. Candidates are preferred to have three years of teaching experience at the high school level, but a teacher with less than three years and an exemplary first teaching experience should also consider applying. Experience in teaching Calculus is required. Candidates should possess basic computer literacy and experience using Google Suite for both administrative and instructional purposes, strong interpersonal, and written communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a desire to work with Upper School students in a supportive college-preparatory environment. Knowledge of Quaker history and education is desirable, but not required.

Physical Requirements: The ability to navigate stairs as part of daily routines; mobility around a large campus with uneven pavement; bending and squatting as required to participate in activities; sitting and standing for long periods of time during the school day; lifting/carrying boxes up to 25 pounds; and the ability to maneuver as necessary within a regular classroom and office setting.
