Summary
NEL is seeking a caring, reliable, and passionate Toddler Teacher to join our licensed childcare team. The ideal candidate will nurture and support the growth and development of infants (6 weeks to 18 months) in a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment. This role requires a deep understanding of infant needs, strong communication skills, and a commitment to early childhood best practices.
Duties
Child Supervision Safety
Provide attentive supervision at all times, maintaining required staff-to-child ratios.
Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, and meets all state licensing and health regulations.
Administer basic first aid and report any incidents promptly.
Curriculum Daily Activities
Implement and adapt curriculum that supports cognitive, language, motor, and social development.
Plan and lead engaging activities and play-based learning experiences.
Promote curiosity, independence, and age-appropriate exploration.
Caregiving Duties
Assist with daily routines such as diapering, potty training, feeding, and napping.
Maintain accurate daily records for each child, including meals, sleep, toileting, and developmental notes.
Parent Communication
Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s day, progress, and any concerns.
Prepare daily reports and participate in parent-teacher conferences as needed.
Behavior Guidance Support
Promote positive behavior using redirection and supportive strategies.
Help toddlers develop self-regulation and social skills in a warm and respectful manner.
Collaboration Professionalism
Work closely with fellow teachers and administrative staff to ensure consistency and quality of care.
Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education preferred.
Must meet state licensing requirements for infant teachers (e.g., infant/toddler training hours, background checks).
Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Minimum 1yr of experience working with infants in a licensed childcare setting preferred.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and meet the physical demands of working with infants.
Warm, patient, and nurturing personality with strong observational and communication skills.
Nice To Haves
A valid CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential,
A Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education with a Kindergarten Endorsement from an accredited college or university, with grades of C or higher,
A Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from an accredited college or university, plus one of the following:
15 credit hours in coursework related to child development, skills, or teaching methods for children aged 6 and under, with grades of C or better, or
An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university, with grades of C or better.
