The Title I Transitional Teacher at Marygrove will provide supplemental academic services and facilitate student achievement by helping students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate student achievement.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Meets and provide supplemental academic support and targeted interventions to assigned students in any K-12 grade level upon request.
- Creates an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Assesses students' current academic levels.
- Plans and delivers lesson plans and interventions aligned with students' needs and HSD curriculum guidelines.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons and intervention sessions and communicates these objectives to students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Integrates socio-emotional learning skills and self-management.
- Monitors student achievement.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Works with students to discuss strategies and interventions to facilitate a positive transition to new HSD schools or back to school from suspension.
- Collaborates with colleagues, staff at Marygrove and HSD, and therapists to discuss students' progress, concerns, and needs.
- Coordinates and/or attends student support meetings at Marygrove and multiple HSD schools.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Perform other Duties as Assigned
Examples of Work Performed:
- Attends Marygrove and Lusher Elementary professional development and campus training sessions.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Assists the administration at HSD and Marygrove in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Make provisions for being available to students for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Education - bachelor's degree and a Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Teaching Certification. Certificate issued by Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Broad knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment; Extensive knowledge of Missouri Learning Standards; Knowledge of various instructional delivery models; Knowledge of research-based and evidence-based instructional strategies. Knowledge of socio-emotional learning skills.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Requires evidence of improving student achievement; Training and practical experience in instructional management and effective teaching models

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and to lift to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required included close vision, distance vision, the ability to adjust and focus, and depth perception. Specific hearing abilities required include normal conversation and isolating voices in multiple conversations.

Works at Marygrove and in different school environments most of the time

Computer, copier, scanner, projector, telephone, calculator.
REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: None
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a federally funded, full-time position. Assigned to 190-day work calendar; 36 hours and 40 minutes per week minimum; compensation and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life) as provided by the Board of Education.
The Title I Transitional Teacher at Marygrove is paid 100% with Title I funds. Should funds no longer be available, or the district plan changes, the position may be eliminated to meet the needs of the district.
