Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Therapeutic Classroom Special Education Strat II Teacher to join our dedicated team. This role requires an educator who is passionate about supporting students with emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges through specialized instructional strategies and therapeutic interventions. The ideal candidate will foster a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes academic growth, social-emotional development, and behavioral progress. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students' unique needs, focusing on both academic and therapeutic goals. Utilize Strat II special education strategies to support students with moderate to severe disabilities, including emotional and behavioral challenges. Collaborate closely with therapists, counselors, families, and other educators to create an integrated, supportive learning environment. Implement therapeutic classroom management techniques that emphasize positive behavior support and de-escalation strategies. Monitor and document student progress regularly, adjusting instructional methods and therapeutic supports as needed. Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects aligned with state standards, adapted to meet individual student abilities and learning styles. Facilitate social skills development and emotional regulation through targeted interventions and classroom activities. Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and self-advocacy. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP reviews, and professional development opportunities. Comply with all federal, state, and district regulations related to special education and therapeutic services. Qualifications: Valid state of Iowa teaching certification in Special Education Strat II or equivalent. Experience working in therapeutic or emotionally supportive classroom settings preferred. Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and behavioral intervention strategies. Ability to implement trauma-informed and restorative practices in the classroom. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and professional teams. Patience, empathy, and a commitment to student-centered instruction and support. Master's degree in Special Education or related field preferred but not required.
Work Environment: This position is based in a therapeutic classroom setting within a public or private school, serving students with a range of emotional and behavioral needs. The teacher will work with multidisciplinary teams and have access to counseling and clinical support services.
