Summary
Infant/Toddler teachers are responsible for the supervision of up to 8 children ages 6 weeks to 36 months. Teachers work with an assistant teacher.
Preschool teachers are responsible for the supervision of up to 20 children ages 3 to 5 years.
Duties
Responsibilities include:
Using positive discipline techniques to support independence, self-regulation, and social skills
Supporting children in developing self-help skills
Record keeping
Communicating with families
Maintaining confidentiality
Maintaining conduct and professionalism
Maintaining a safe, learning environment
Creating a curriculum that supports children's growth and development in alignment with the CTELDS
Assessing children's growth and development in alignment with the CTDOTS
Maintaining required certifications - CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration, Background checks, CT Charts-A-Course Registry, current statement of good health, Covid vaccinated
Demonstrating reliability and punctuality
Requirements
Teachers must be at least 18 years old with at least 12 ECE credits
Teachers working in a NAEYC Accredited center must also have earned a BA/BS in ECE, Child Study, Child Development, or a related field
Evidence of experience working with young children, preferably 3 references
Reliable transportation
Ability to SMILE: Smile, Make others feel special, provide Information, Listen, Engage with children
