As a Christ-centered K12 school, Ambleside Colorado fosters educational renewal based on Charlotte Masons philosophy and practice. We have served the Denver-metro community since 2010 by providing a living education to students and families.
The philosophy of education developed by British educator Charlotte Mason shapes our curriculum and method. Her focus on engaging children with the best of creation and attention to habit-formation are models that remain relevant and poignant in guiding todays children toward lives of purpose, character, and excellence.
The Position:
Ambleside is seeking a 12th Grade Teacher who is passionate about both formation and education. This role is an invitation to guide students as they grapple with big ideas, examine contemporary issues through the lens of timeless truths, and prepare to step into the world with wisdom, humility, and conviction. Our high school classrooms are relational, rigorous, and deeply rooted in truth, goodness, and beauty.
Responsibilities:
Classroom Atmosphere
- Creates an optimal learning environment free from rewards, incentives, punishments, and unnecessary distractions
- Maintains a clean, organized, and clutter-free classroom conducive to student learning
- Takes responsibility for classroom materials and involves students in their care and upkeep
- Builds positive relationships with students and parents
- Supports students academic, spiritual, relational, and physical development
Academic Excellence
- Follows the schools curriculum guide and uses approved resources
- Comes prepared for class with detailed lesson plans, familiarity with materials, and thoughtful, open-ended questions
- Teaches in alignment with the Charlotte Mason philosophy as defined by Ambleside Schools International
- Provides academic support for students through scheduled tutoring or coaching parents
- Models a love for learning and fosters the same in students
- Pursues a deepening understanding of Charlotte Masons philosophy and refines personal practice
- Remains a lifelong learner, committed to professional growth

- Strives for excellence while demonstrating humility
- Ensures the safety and well-being of students by adhering to school policies
- Respects student confidentiality and exercises discretion
- Maintains appropriate boundaries in communication with all members of the school community

Qualifications:
- Be prompt, present, and attentive during the normal working hours of the school day
- Perform duties related to arrival and dismissal alongside other teachers and staff
- Make Friday afternoons available until 3:45 p.m. for staff and professional meetings; if meetings end early, use the remaining time for on-site teacher planning (part-time employees: see assigned hours)
- Attend in-service trainings and workdays noted on the calendar (part-time employees: check with the principal in advance for individual expectations)
- Hold parent-teacher conferences as published on the school calendar and as individually requested by parents
- Participate in all Parent Teacher Fellowships
- Attend all Community Events, at least three Ambleside Evenings, and Open Houses as requested
- Attend weekly staff devotions when scheduled
- Participate in school-wide events published on the school calendar
- Engage in available training opportunities, including local programs, internships, and the Summer Institute
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Educational qualification: Minimum of a BA or BS degree
