Summary
New Haven High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Secondary Science Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the wonders of science, fostering a love for learning and critical thinking. This full-time position offers the opportunity to teach a diverse student body, develop engaging lesson plans, and contribute to a collaborative educational environment.
Responsibilities
– Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and promote student engagement.
– Teach various science subjects, including but not limited to biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science.
– Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
– Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, and projects, providing constructive feedback to support their growth.
– Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
– Collaborate with fellow educators to design interdisciplinary projects and curriculum enhancements.
– Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
– Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and best practices.
– Supervise and mentor students during laboratory activities, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
– Contribute to the school community through involvement in extracurricular activities, committees, and events.
Requirements
– Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
– Valid teaching certification in Secondary Science.
– Proven experience teaching science at the secondary level, preferably in a diverse educational setting.
– Strong knowledge of science curriculum and instructional strategies.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
– Proficiency in using educational technology and digital resources to enhance learning.
– Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
– Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
– Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school culture.
Terms of Employment:
School year as defined in the written agreement between the New Haven Board of Education and the New Haven Education Association.
COMPENSATION: Appropriate placement on the salary schedule as defined in the written agreement between the New Haven Board of Education and the New Haven Education Association which can be found at www.newhaven.misd.net under the transparency.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy of the Board of Education and Administrative Guidelines.
