A part-time position is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) serving early childhood students in a school located approximately 85 miles south of San Antonio, TX. This role supports a unique opportunity to work closely with a new kindergarten student who is visually impaired and has a prosthetic eye. Although this student has not yet been officially registered or assessed, the position involves providing specialized instruction and support tailored to their specific needs.
Responsibilities include:
Delivering individualized instruction and support to visually impaired students within early childhood settings.
Collaborating with families, school staff, and specialists to develop and implement appropriate educational strategies.
Conducting assessments to identify student needs and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
Maintaining detailed documentation of student progress and communication.
Providing assistive technology guidance and support to enhance learning.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
Certification in Teaching Students with Visual Impairments.
Experience working with early childhood learners who have visual impairments or additional special needs.
Strong communication skills to engage effectively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
Commitment to ongoing professional development.
