Adelphi is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in a public school district in North Carolina. The ideal candidate will support students aged 3–22 by adapting instructional materials, performing braille transcription, and working collaboratively with staff and families to implement effective strategies as specified in each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field.
• North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Visually Impaired.
• Master’s degree in Special Education (preferred).
• Experience working with low vision devices and assistive technology.
• Familiarity with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) is a plus.
Responsibilities:
• Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments.
• Adapt learning materials and transcribe educational content into braille as needed.
• Assess student needs and develop measurable goals and objectives for IEPs.
• Assist in the design and implementation of individualized education programs.
• Participate in IEP meetings and communicate regularly with school staff and families.
• Maintain accurate records and progress monitoring data.
• Provide training and consultation to educational teams and parents.
• Attend scheduled team meetings and contribute to district wide VI services.
• Submit required reports in a timely and professional manner.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines for special education.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
