Job Position: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)

Location: Near Joliet, Illinois

Pay Rate: $40.00/hr to $50.00/hr

Shift: Full-Time, In-Person School hours

Description:

Birch Agency is seeking a qualified and passionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) for a full-time, in-person position serving Early Childhood through Elementary students (K5) near Joliet, Illinois for the upcoming 20252026 school year .

Position Overview:

The Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing will provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments. You will collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure students can fully access the curriculum and thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing

• Adapt and modify instructional materials to support auditory needs

• Collaborate with general education teachers, audiologists, and IEP teams

• Support students language development and communication goals

• Utilize assistive listening devices and hearing technology effectively

• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with state and district guidelines

Qualifications:

• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)

• Experience working with early childhood or elementary-aged students preferred

• Strong understanding of hearing assistive technology, language development, and IEP implementation

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
