An educational opportunity is available for a qualified Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to deliver specialized instruction in a self-contained high school classroom setting. The role focuses on supporting students with hearing impairments and additional learning needs through individualized and accessible teaching strategies. Position Summary:As the primary instructor, the teacher will develop and deliver tailored lesson plans for high school students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The successful candidate will possess strong expertise in deaf education, fluency in American Sign Language (ASL), and experience supporting a diverse range of learner abilities. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligning with each students unique communication and academic needs. Deliver direct instruction across core academic subjects utilizing differentiated methods, visual supports, and accessible formats. Employ ASL and alternative communication modalities to facilitate full engagement and interaction within the classroom. Collaborate with support staff and families to promote inclusive educational experiences and student success. Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly. Required Qualifications: Illinois certification as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher. Proficiency in American Sign Language. Experience teaching students with hearing impairments in high school settings. Knowledge of IEP development and implementation. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Location:This contract position is located in the Crystal Lake, Illinois area and serves students throughout the academic school year (CSY).
