The Role
Belmont CC Deaf Education program ideally requires a diligent and enthusiastic Teacher of the Deaf, who can assist in delivering our Intensive Literacy and Numeracy programs within the Deaf Education Program.
The Deaf Education Program is delivering two intensive literacy programs to enrolled students. MorThemes, a phonemes-based literacy program created in South Australia by a team comprising Teachers of the Deaf and Speech Therapists, that targets literacy fundamentals in a sequential manner.
Fingerspelling Our Way to Reading Program You would be working as part of a team, working alongside Educational Interpreters and another Teacher of the Deaf within the Deaf Education hub, delivering the intensive programs and supporting student needs. It would be ideal that the Teacher is proficient in Auslan as these programs are predominantly delivered to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students who access the curriculum using Auslan as their first language.
