Teacher Assistant

Job Title
Supports the Teacher in implementing the care, development, education and supervision of typically and atypically developing preschool children. Provides guidance and developmental experience to meet the appropriate educational, cultural, linguistic and emotional needs.
Essential Duties
- Assists in planning and implementation of care and educational activities for preschool children.
- Assists in providing a nurturing environment that addresses the developmental characteristics and needs of each child in order to enhance social, educational, emotional, behavioral growth and well-being.
- Ensures proper care and supervision for each and every child at all times and adheres to the standards of conduct.
- Ensures the classroom and all equipment is maintained in a clean and safe condition.
- Adheres to family-style meal requirements. Ensures meal counts are recorded at the point of services.
- Uses routines, activities and experiences in the daily program that achieves the child's individualized goals.
- Prepares and arranges all necessary education materials designed to encourage individual and group play.
- Models positive reinforcement with children in the classroom.
- Records observations, shares information about the child with the Teacher to plan together how to best meet the child's needs.
- Creates instructional bulletin boards and other materials to support lesson themes and activities.
- Supervises children at all times to ensure safety and completes incidents reports as necessary.
- Maintains daily records of child's attendance, health and behavior, reports suspicions of child abuse or neglect to the Site Supervisor.
- Maintains absolute confidentiality regarding children and their families in compliance with HIPAA regulations and company policies.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Eighteen semester units or more in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
- Candidate must be concurrently enrolled in a program leading to an Associate's Degree or a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Other Qualifications
- Relevant experience in direct care of children between birth and 5 years of age including parental involvement or participation.
- Basic curriculum development and implementation.
- Experience with children with a variety of disabilities (preferred).
- Spanish / English bilingual strongly preferred.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Maintains patient privacy, including protecting the confidentiality, safeguarding the integrity and availability, and limiting the use and disclosure of patient Protected Health Information (PHI) to authorized individuals and entities.
- Participates in, conducts, and sustains performance quality improvement activities according to designated role and responsibilities.
- Sensitivity to service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Punctual and dependable attendance.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Associate Teacher Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing required.
Computer Skills
- Must have working knowledge of computer programs in a Windows environment

Compensation
$21.32 USD - $25.59 USD In accordance with California law, the expected pay range for this position is included in this posting. The actual compensation will be determined based on factors permitted by law. New hires will be offered a salary at the starting point of the range to maintain internal inequity and allow opportunity for future salary growth. CII salaries are determined based on comprehensive internal and external market analysis, as well as the skills, education, and experience relevant to each position.
