Description

I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide extra assistance to students with special needs.
• Assist students individually or in small groups academically.
• Supervise students.
• Work with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Arrange with classroom teachers to collect student assignments.
• Enforce classroom values.
• Responsible for assisting with classroom behavior.
• Responsible for completing students point sheets.
• Assist in crisis intervention for students.
• Responsible for recording information behavior on ABC sheets.
• Complete the following reports when necessary: information, behaviorals, and incident reports.
• Provide communication to members of the Behavior Support team regarding any behavior requiring intervention.
• Responsible for monitoring the attendance of all students assigned to their class.
• Performs all duties as assigned.

II. QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum high school diploma or GED
• Acceptable clearance checks for State Central Register, Driver license and fingerprinting as required by the program.
• A Teacher's Assistant certificate is not required but preferred.
• A clean and valid NYS driver's license preferred.
• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities/traumatic brain injuries preferred.

• Ability to set limits and maintain helping role of practitioner and to intervene appropriately.
