Position Summary:
The Summer School Middle School Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality
instruction to middle school students during the summer session. The teacher will support
student learning, reinforce essential skills, and help students meet academic goals to prepare
for the upcoming school year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned to curriculum standards and summer school
objectives. - Provide instruction in ELA and Social Studies.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
- Implement classroom management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Assess and monitor student progress regularly; provide timely feedback to students and
program administrators. - Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
- Collaborate with other summer school staff to support student success.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians as needed.
- Participate in required training sessions or meetings prior to and during the summer program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required.
- Valid NYS Teaching Certification in the appropriate subject area or grade level preferred.
- Prior experience teaching middle school students is strongly preferred.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to design engaging lessons that address diverse learning styles and needs.
- Commitment to student success and high expectations for all learners.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Compensation: - Hourly Rate: $40
- Paid on 8/30/25
Work Environment: - Classroom-based setting.
- Some standing, walking, and lifting of materials may be required.
- May require flexibility in assignments based on program needs.
