GENERAL SUMMARY

Responsible for keeping the children safe and their needs met at all times. Adapts to class function and schedule. Supports the aides who have joint ownership of the class

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Fills a vacant position of Teacher and/or Aide temporarily and ensures the children are safe and their needs are met.

Communicates and models to children in a positive manner.

Maintains a clean, safe and healthy classroom environment..

Ensures the desired mental health atmosphere reflected through Positive Behavior Management (PBS) techniques, positive reinforcement and a well-integrated daily schedule.

Maintains a positive two-way communication system between parents and the Program.

Arranges classroom furniture and materials to facilitate learning

Develops lesson plans for the temporary position and sets up all materials needed for instruction and cleans up the classroom at the end of the day.

Responds to early morning substitution calls or text messages

Maintains certification, licensure, First Aid and CPR and continuing education requirements of the program to meet Head Start Performance Standards and State of Michigan Day Care Licensing Regulations.

Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions.

Performs related work as required.
