Teachers Now is seeking motivated and dependable Substitute Teachers in Baton Rouge, LA. This is a great opportunity to step into the classroom and provide essential support in the absence of the regular teacher, paraprofessional, or instructional aide—helping students stay on track with their learning.
A Day in the Life of a Substitute Teacher:As a Substitute Teacher, you’ll enjoy a flexible weekday schedule (Monday through Friday), with shift availability between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Half-day options are also available (7:00 AM–12:00 PM or 12:00 PM–5:00 PM).
Pay/Compensation:
Varies based on education and certification ($100-140 daily)
Your day may include:
Following Lesson Plans: Use provided plans to ensure learning continues smoothly in the teacher’s absence.
Classroom Engagement: Lead and manage the classroom, encouraging student participation and minimizing disruptions.
Meeting Student Needs: Adjust teaching methods to maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.
Supervising Students: Monitor students in the classroom, hallways, lunchroom, and playground as needed.
Distributing Assignments: Hand out classwork and homework in line with the lesson plan.
Taking Attendance: Keep accurate records and report incidents or concerns to school staff.
Supporting School Teams: Participate in school responsibilities and help across different departments as needed.
Maintaining Safety: Ensure student and facility safety by following appropriate guidelines.
For Long-Term Subs: You may be responsible for creating lesson plans that align with the classroom curriculum.
Associate Degree or 60+ college credit hours (required)
Bachelor’s Degree or Teaching Certification (preferred, not required)
Previous classroom or childcare experience (preferred)
Confident classroom management and leadership skills
Must pass state and federal background checks
A strong belief in student potential and a desire to support their success
