Job Title: Special Education Teacher (ESN)
Location: Berkeley, CA, 94704

Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to serve students with disabilities. The ideal candidate will hold an appropriate Credential and be skilled in providing specialized instruction, behavior supports, and individualized interventions in both inclusive and specialized settings. This role is critical in helping ensure access to education, independence, and meaningful progress for every learner.

What you will do:

·& & & & & & & & Provide direct specialized academic instruction aligned with each student’s IEP goals

·& & & & & & & & Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure access to grade-level curriculum through accommodations and modifications

·& & & & & & & & Conduct ongoing assessments and maintain accurate data on student performance and progress

·& & & & & & & & Participate in and lead IEP meetings, ensuring legal compliance and high-quality services

·& & & & & & & & Develop and implement behavior support plans in collaboration with related service providers and families

·& & & & & & & & Integrate assistive technology, augmentative communication, and adaptive strategies to meet individual needs

·& & & & & & & & Create a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that promotes independence and social-emotional growth

·& & & & & & & & Provide direction to classroom aides/paraeducators and collaborate with specialists

·& & & & & & & & Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, needs, and strategies for support

·& & & & & & & & Comply with district, state, and federal special education regulations


What you will need:

·& & & & & & & & California Education Specialist Credential with either& Extensive Support Needs (ESN) or Moderate/Severe Disabilities

·& & & & & & & & English Learner Authorization (EL Authorization)

·& & & & & & & & Demonstrated knowledge of special education law, best practices in inclusive education, and evidence-based instructional strategies

·& & & & & & & & Experience developing and implementing IEPs

·& & & & & & & & Ability to work collaboratively with families, service providers, and multidisciplinary teams

·& & & & & & & & Strong communication, documentation, and time management skills
