As a Special Education Teacher, you will design and implement individualized educational programs for students, modifying the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks to meet their academic abilities. A bachelor's degree in special education or a related field and a Massachusetts Certificate in Special Education are required. Related teaching experience is preferred. You must have a current MA driver’s license and the ability to handle children in crisis safely and compassionately. Active participation with students and collaboration with teachers, clinical staff, ancillary staff, families, and outside agencies is essential. Schedule: 40 hours. Mon-Fri 7a-3p.
Location:
Compensation: $64,023 annually with Special Education Certification ($51,791 without the Special Education Teacher's Certification).

Key Responsibilities: Develop classroom schedule and implement daily academic lesson plans. Plan activities for school vacations and summer school recreational program. Assist in writing school curriculum. Write and implement IEPs. Design and implement pre-vocational and vocational curriculum within the daily schedule. Understand and implement the school behavior management program. Design and implement individualized and group behavior management programs. Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings and supervision. Have knowledge of MCAS testing including, knowing which students take it by accommodations or by alternative assessment portfolios. Gather MCAS information to create portfolios in time for spring submission. Continually track student progress, complete semi-annual report cards, and write student transcripts annually. Complete weekly, quarterly and annual reports. Maintain and organize classroom supplies and equipment. All other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. Any work assigned shall be related to the Employee’s normal duties, except for occasional emergencies.
