Do you have a passion for supporting children with unique learning needs? We seek a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic, school-based team in the Carlisle Area School District or the Elizabethtown Area School District. This impactful role is focused on delivering specialized instruction, creating individualized education plans, and supporting students with autism and other behavioral health challenges.
You'll play a central role in fostering a structured, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment where every child can succeed academically, socially, and behaviorally.
What You'll Do As A Special Education Teacher: Develop and deliver specialized instruction aligned with each student's individualized education plan (IEP) Adapt lesson plans to meet the diverse learning styles and needs of children Teach social, behavioral, and academic skills using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques Lead the creation and review of IEPs in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams Monitor and document student progress using data-driven tools to ensure measurable outcomes Ensure compliance with special education laws, documentation, and district requirements
Requirements For Our Special Education Teacher: Bachelor's degree in special education or related field Active Instructional I or II Special Education Certification (PA) Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and knowledge of ABA strategies Completion and renewal of emergency prevention & intervention training Able to train and coach support staff on behavioral health services and safety practices Must meet all PA Department of Education pre-employment and training requirements
Our Ideal Special Education Teacher: Master's degree in Special Education preferred Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving abilities Quick to learn new instructional strategies and technologies Able to follow complex instructions and adapt to changing student needs Physically capable of meeting daily classroom demands (e.g., lifting, kneeling, standing, walking)
