East Haddam Public Schools is a small, rural K-12 district in central Connecticut committed to nurturing the whole child-academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. Our district prioritizes safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments, with special education caseloads designed intentionally to allow for meaningful, individualized student support. We believe every child deserves to be seen, heard, and supported in every aspect of their development. If you are an empathetic, skilled educator committed to making a difference in the lives of students with emotional and behavioral needs, we encourage you to apply and become part of our supportive and mission-driven team.
We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled special education teacher to work with middle school students who present with emotional and behavioral challenges. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of evidence-based behavioral intervention strategies, including Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP). A successful teacher in this role will have a proven record of exhibiting strong classroom management skills and be adept at using proactive and responsive de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. The candidate should be proficient in collecting and analyzing behavioral and academic data to monitor progress and guide instructional and behavioral decision-making.
