Your Role: The Special Education Teacher at KEYS Academy plays a crucial part in creating relevant and engaging learning experiences for students. You will utilize various instructional strategies while planning and aligning your lessons with the Virginia Standards of Learning and the school's curriculum. Your responsibilities will include: Preparing the classroom for activities and establishing a positive learning environment. Developing individual behavior plans and a classroom management strategy. Creating lesson plans that reflect the KEYS Curriculum and integrate the Social Thinking Program. Using student data to guide instructional planning and measure academic progress. Aligning IEP goals with instructional plans and ensuring accessibility of learning materials. Fostering communication and social skill development throughout lessons. Maintaining effective communication with parents and participating in professional growth opportunities. Qualifications: A valid teaching license in Special Education, with endorsements in Emotional Disabilities or General Curriculum K-12. Completion of required competency-based training related to safety, crisis intervention, and ethical practices. Proof of current CPR/First Aid certification and training in online learning programs.
