Primary Purpose:
Assist Speech Language Pathologists when working with Spanish speaking students and/or parents in the provision of speech language therapy activities.
Qualifications/Skills:
Education/Certification: Minimum of 48 college hours or high school diploma/equivalent plus pass a District Assessment.
Educational Aide Certification.
Special Knowledge/Skills: Bilingual - fluent and literate in Spanish and English (reading, writing, and speaking).
Background related to working with children and parents.
Ability to work and communicate with children and adults effectively.
Major Duties and
Responsibilities:
Instructional Support: Adhere to Texas Education Agency and district policies and procedures.
Assist in record keeping and clerical duties.
Assist in preparation, use and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment.
Assist with teacher planned activities, exercises and drills.
Student Management: Facilitate communication between SLP and bilingual students in the provision of speech language therapy.
Other: Maintain strict confidentiality.
Act as interpreter as needed.
Travel to site(s) as assigned.
Perform other duties as required.

Wheelchair, ramp, personal computer and various office equipment.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress.
Work with frequent interruptions.
This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.
Physical Demands: Repetitive hand motions.
Prolonged use of the computer.
Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.
Moving small stacks of textbooks, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
May require occasional extended hours.
