New Today
Job Description
NATURE & SCOPE
SCHEDULE
Tuesday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (3 Monday's per quarter) Year-round academic calendar with two-week breaks between terms.
NATURE & SCOPE
Spark Homestead is a residential treatment program specializing in autism and neurodiversity. We offer a year-round, project-based learning curriculum in a co-teacher classroom that fosters confidence and a love for education. With a case load of 12- 16 high school level students, teachers at Homestead teach all subjects in a single classroom. This means that although the teacher specializes in one area, they will be asked to teach multiple subjects, similar to a resource classroom. Spark Homestead is an accredited special education school that is committed to providing individualized support to help students thrive academically and personally.
The Special Education (Math) Teacher will provide structured and engaging Math and special education instruction in a co-taught, cross-curricular, project-based learning classroom while supporting students with varying special education needs. This role requires creativity, patience, out-of-the-box thinking, and a strong understanding of how to adapt the Math curriculum to accommodate students who learn differently than a traditional direct instruction classroom offers. This position will give you the freedom to have fun teaching again, without the stress and pressures of teaching all curriculum strands to prepare for the end-of-level tests; no high-stakes tests are given. This means you are free to think more creatively and enjoy teaching.
