Position: Special Education Teacher (Middle School, CI Focus)
Schedule: hours/week (Monday–Friday, school hours)
Duration: August 2025 – May 2026
Pay Rate: Up to $48/hr (based on experience)
Location: Kalamazoo, MI 49048 (on-site)
Job Description:
Provide specialized instruction to middle school students with cognitive impairments
Develop and implement individualized IEPs with functional academic and life skills goals
Adapt curriculum using multi-sensory and evidence-based strategies
Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
Foster social-emotional growth and independence
Utilize assistive technology to enhance learning
Maintain compliance with Michigan special education laws
Support inclusion opportunities where appropriate
Education & Certification Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education
Michigan Teaching Certificate with Cognitive Impairment (CI) Endorsement
Experience working with middle school students with disabilities
Knowledge of Michigan Merit Curriculum and Extended Standards
Strong behavior management and communication skills
