SUMMARY OF POSITION: Carrollton Middle School is looking for a creative, dedicated, and caring certified English/Language Arts teacher who will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing standards aligned instructional programs in a learning environment that helps our students develop to their full academic potential.
REPORTS TO: Lon Medd, CMS Principal
COMPENSATION: As per the CEA Master Agreement. Years of teaching experience will be considered.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Shall provide and utilize instructional plans, strategies, methods, materials and techniques that best meet the needs of individual students and are congruent with Michigan state standards and the ethics of the profession. Have an in-depth understanding of middle school students and ability to apply effective teaching strategies for all middle school students to help them reach their potential socially and academically. Work with teachers, students, parents, and administration to achieve successful outcomes for students using MTSS and PBIS. Using the NWEA and other screening assessments for data collection and using that information to best serve our students. To keep and promote a positive attitude and culture when working with students, parents, other staff members, and community members who visit Carrollton Public Schools facilities or programs. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with school and curriculum standards Teach reading, writing, grammar, and literature analysis Utilize formative and summative assessments to determine student growth Display a high level of proficiency in Google Programs including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Classroom, as well as Microsoft Office. Shall be of good character with high moral and ethical values. Work to ensure a safe environment for students at all times. Attend conferences, workshops, and professional development as requested. Other duties as assigned by the building principal/supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: Certified with the State of Michigan to teach grades 6-12 in English Language Arts (BA or BX) endorsement. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Possession of excellent oral and written communications skills. Experience working with at-risk students and their families is preferred. Must receive a satisfactory response to PA 189 Letter. (Misconduct Law) Must satisfactorily pass: Law enforcement background checks with fingerprinting. Personal and professional reference background check.
