Position Summary

Northside Charter High School seeks a passionate and innovative Science Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore and understand the natural world through inquiry-based learning, hands-on experiments, and critical thinking. Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and implement engaging, standards-aligned lessons in science, which may include biology, chemistry, physics, or environmental science, depending on expertise.

  • Student Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and active participation in scientific inquiry.

  • Laboratory Instruction: Design and conduct hands-on lab experiments and activities that enhance understanding of scientific concepts while maintaining a safe learning environment.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Create and administer assessments to evaluate student learning, provide timely and constructive feedback, and adjust instruction as needed.

  • Differentiation: Adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs, ensuring all students are challenged and supported.

  • Classroom Management: Maintain an organized, safe, and respectful learning environment, particularly during lab activities.

  • Collaboration: Work with colleagues to align curriculum, share resources, and participate in professional learning communities.

  • Parent Communication: Maintain open and proactive communication with parents and guardians about student progress and classroom activities.

  • Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with scientific advancements and best practices in science education.

  • School Community: Participate in school events, committees, and initiatives to contribute to the broader school culture.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field with a focus on science (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics).

  • Valid teaching certification for secondary science (or ability to obtain certification before the start date).

  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching science at the high school level.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field.

  • Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) science courses or dual-credit courses.

  • Strong proficiency in integrating technology into science instruction.
