Job Description
A Child Care Center Schoolage Teacher Assistant is responsible to assist the lead teacher in the academic, social-emotional growth and development of children in their care. The primary function of the teacher assistant is to work with the lead teacher, parents, and administrators to improve students experience and meet teaching objectives. Additionally, the teacher assistant will execute the plans given by the lead teacher, and help evaluate childrens development.

Job Description
A Child Care Center Schoolage Teacher Assistant is responsible to assist the lead teacher in the academic, social-emotional growth and development of children in their care. The primary function of the teacher assistant is to work with the lead teacher, parents, and administrators to improve students experience and meet teaching objectives. Additionally, the teacher assistant will execute the plans given by the lead teacher, and help evaluate childrens development.
A Teacher Assistant Must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent education
- Have at least 1 year of experience working with children and/or a have or be working towards a certificate of schoolage endorsement
- Submit to background check
- Be CPR, First Aid certified or obtain certification upon hire
- Complete orientation and applicable trainings upon hire
- Complete a physical and provide a physicians documentation of immunizations
- Meet all applicable ODJFS licensing regulations and KAofSL policies and procedures
- Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a large group of children alone in a classroom
- Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences
- Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities
- Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull and play with preschool children
- Be available for full and/or part time employment
- Have dependable transportation
Specific Duties include but not limited to:
- Help to mantain classroom environment in good condition, execute lessons, and supervision of children at all times
- Help maintain established classroom structure; ensure that child possessions are organized, child rules and consequences are fair and consistent, and follow routines to ensure that children feel safe and confortable throughout the day
