Responsibilities
Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center is hiring for a Certified Florida Teacher in Science or English/Reading.
Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center offers intensive residential psychiatric services for adolescents including behavioral, emotional and psychiatric interventions. Our treatment philosophy is based on trauma-informed care principles and offers distinct progressive phases of care. The Hospital/Homebound school within the facility contracts with the Manatee County school district to provide a small classroom educational environment to residential patients.
The teacher will use their knowledge of student development to be flexible and responsive to student learning by adjusting lessons, responding to student individual needs, and persisting in providing a variety of approaches when students have difficulties.
A student to direct care staff ratio is maintained throughout the school day for behavior support in the classroom with additional support from on-site psychiatrists, nursing staff, a board certified behavior analyst, and therapists. We follow required state and county rules and regulations for a Hospital/Homebound site.
Teachers are employees of the facility and not under a teacher contract/re-negotiation.
