Job Responsibilities
Conducts a comprehensive educational program which includes assessing students' academic and habilitative needs, implementing curriculum and programs, developing long and short term objectives, preparing lesson plans and assessment, utilizing appropriate teaching methods. Provide professional guidance related to students' needs, growth and development. Monitors individual student progress and revises teaching materials, methods and techniques as appropriate. Prepares and maintains a variety of student records which show student assessment, progress, difficulties and needs. Meets with the Human Services Coordinator I to discuss program goals, implementation plans and progress and modifications.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Education or other closely related field. Must have experience in residential/classroom programs for sensory impaired students. Must have the ability to plan and implement programs to meet students needs. Must be able to motivate students to move towards independence in academic, habilitative and communication skills. Also be able to provide academic support in all subject areas at a variety of grade levels. This position may require communication modalities dependent upon employment placement.
