SALARY RANGE: $44,000 year for .4FTE position
The RTAP program in Waltham Public Schools will offer current paraprofessionals a pathway to earning an Initial MA Educator License in Teaching Students with Moderate Disabilities, PK-8. RTAP integrates on-the-job training with academic coursework, allowing participants to earn while they learn. This hands-on approach ensures that apprentices gain practical classroom experience under the supervision of experienced educators while simultaneously completing the requirements for Initial licensure. The RTAP Coordinator is responsible for developing, launching, and overseeing all aspects of this exciting new program, including (but not limited to): Managing our partnership with Bridgewater State University, our Educator Preparation Provider partner for this initiative Establishing recruitment, selection, and onboarding process for mentors and apprentices Ensuring that the on-the-job training experiences meet the required hours for each domain (Curriculum Planning and Instruction; Teaching All Students; Family and Community Engagement; Professional Culture), as outlined by DESE. Developing observation rubrics, goal-setting templates, check-in agendas, and professional development schedules for mentors and apprentices Conducting observations, and providing regular feedback and support to apprentices and mentors Identifying any wraparound supports needed to ensure apprentices can make effective progress in the program Tracking progress, monitoring attendance and hours, collecting data, and reporting to DESE.
QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred. Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities Prek-8 licensure is required. A minimum of five years' experience in special education. Exemplary performance and demonstrated leadership as a Special Educator. Experience working in a school system, special education school or organization with a diverse population. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Effective written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, and listening skills. Ability to modify general education classwork to support students with disabilities in accessing the curriculum
WORK ENVIRONMENT Must be computer literate; familiar with computer software applications such as Google Suite Involves travel to various schools within Waltham.
