The Lowell School is dedicated to providing inclusive, high-quality education for all students. We are seeking a passionate Special Education Teacher to provide individualized reading instruction to students with learning differences.
*Position Overview:*
The Special Education Teacher will work closely with students who require targeted reading interventions. Using research-based methodologies, the teacher will develop and implement personalized reading plans to help students improve literacy skills.
*Key Responsibilities:*
Provide individualized reading instruction to students with diverse learning needs.
Develop and implement IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals related to reading development.
Utilize evidence-based reading interventions such as Orton-Gillingham or similar methodologies.
Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to promote student success.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and report findings to parents and the special education team.
Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
*Qualifications:*
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Reading Specialist Certification, or a related field.
Licensure: Valid state teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility for certification).
Experience: Prior experience working with students with reading disabilities (e.g., dyslexia, processing disorders) is preferred.
*Skills:*
Strong knowledge of structured literacy approaches
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
