Preschool Teacher

As an AppliedKids Preschool Teacher, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:
- Support AppliedKids' daily classroom operations, including child and classroom record keeping, and compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Responsible for following the licensing regulations and supervision of children at all times.
- Develop a curriculum which ensures that the quality of the program offered at the center supports the needs of Applied Medical team members and their families.
- Model the philosophy of AppliedKids and all its policies, practices and guidelines.
- Arrange and maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment that honors cultural diversity and follows the guidelines of the Infant and Toddlers Environment Rating Scale (ITERS), Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) and Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS).
- Ensure all children, their family members and team members are treated with dignity and respect.
- Collaborate with teaching team members to plan and implement an educational program that meets the developmental needs of the whole child and responds to the individual needs and interests of the children.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for the children.
- Meet with classroom teaching team on a regular basis to reevaluate programming and classroom routines and curriculum.
- Understand the developmental level and family background of each child in your group by developing a comfortable and trusting relationship with families.
- Support lead teachers in assigned daily and weekly reports on time and accurately.
- Address and communicate any concerns, questions, or issues brought to you by families to the classroom lead teacher and the AppliedKids leadership team.
- Schedule and conduct parent (or legal guardian) and teacher meetings.
- Complete write-ups of all parent (or legal guardian) and teacher meetings in a timely fashion and ensure evaluation information presented is accurate and insightful.
- Collaborate with team members to create documentation that complements children's interests and developmental goals.
- Work with team members and families to assess the needs of children in care.
- Protect the confidentiality of all records and information concerning children, their families and team members.
- Take a positive approach to conflict resolution with children and adults.
- Meet professional development requirements, per state regulations, to ensure the implementation of best practices.
- Maintain flexibility and be willing to learn other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
This position requires the following skills and attributes:
- Preferred bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or similar field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 12 core semester units in Early Childhood Education plus 3 additional semester units in Infant/Toddler Units.
- Be eligible for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Child Development Program Associate Teacher Permit (or higher).
- Pass a live scan background check and criminal record clearance.
- Must have the necessary immunizations to work in a child care facility: influenza, pertussis, and measles.
- Pass a health screening, including a tuberculosis test performed by or under the supervision of a physician, to indicate the ability to perform the assigned duties.
- Have experience working with preschool age children in a licensed child care center.
