- Professional Educator License (PEL) with an early childhood education endorsement or proper temporary approval
- Hold or be working toward obtaining an Illinois Gateways Early Childhood Educator Credential level 5 or beyond
- Ability to foster a collaborative culture; possess a team-oriented attitude
- Operates within an equity lens and from a strengths-based perspective
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Proficient computer skills and data collection
- Fit to work physical exam with TB screening
- Reliable transportation
- Pass a Criminal History Record Information fingerprint check
Teaching
- Create and maintain a learning environment which is organized, predictable and promotes curiosity, creativity and social-emotional learning (SEL)
- Provide learning experiences and developmental opportunities that support growth and development of the whole child
- Maintain accurate records (daily PFA attendance, CACFP meal logs, bi-weekly lesson plans, Teaching Strategies Gold data, incident reports, Pyramid Model Tier 3 tracking log)
- Collect data for evaluation, program monitoring, and reports
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education opportunities/ training and annual Individual Professional Development Goals
- Implement Creative Curriculum studies through lesson planning which aligns with The Basics and IELDS benchmarks, based on the children's interests
- Develop schedules and routines for programming for 2.5 hours/ 5 days weekly
- Provide individual and small-group instruction
- Provide ongoing observation and authentic assessment of children through use of Teaching Strategies (Gold) and maintain documentation of individual growth
- Implement The Pyramid Model
- Maintain two-way communication with Families including parent-teacher conferences
- Encourage parents to participate in family engagement opportunities
- Develop activities for parents that promote parent participation and involvement at home
- Communicate and collaborate with the childcare provider, co-teachers and ROE team
- Participate in ROE staff meetings and all applicable professional development
- Use IRIS to refer families for comprehensive services
Reports to: PFA Director, Coordinator of Early Learning Programs
Work schedule: 35 hours per week; 12 month position
Compensation: $26-$28/ hour; pension benefits; limited paid holidays and sick time; health insurance supplement
