Summary

United Day School is hiring multiple positions for the 25-26 school year.

Full Time and part time positions available.

Full Time Preschool teacher
Part Time assistant teacher
School Age Head Teacher - requires state of CT head teacher certificate
School Age assistant teacher

Duties

  • Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
  • Observe and monitor children's play activities.
  • Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered.
  • Instruct children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
  • Read to children and teach them simple painting, drawing, handicrafts, and songs.
  • Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas.
  • Help children with homework and school work.
  • Perform housekeeping duties, such as cleaning, dish washing, and sanitizing toys and play equipment.
  • Maintain a safe play environment.
  • Communicate with children's parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues.
  • Create developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
  • Regulate children's rest periods.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, such as taking attendance, editing internal paperwork, and making phone calls.
  • Organize and participate in recreational activities and outings, such as games and field trips.
  • Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
  • Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness of all areas used and classroom materials.
  • Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.


Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience.
  • High energy.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification (can be certified upon hire)
  • Administration of medication certified (can be certified upon hire)
  • Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
  • Head teacher certificate for head teacher positions.
  • Must meet all requirements of CT OEC.
