Ajax Cubs is seeking patient, attentive, and enthusiastic early childhood professionals to join our preschool team. Our preschoolers range in age from 3 to 5 years , and our teachers play a key role in nurturing their natural curiosity, fostering a love for learning, and supporting their emerging independence.
Preschool teachers will guide children through age-appropriate learning experiences that build foundational skills in literacy, math, social-emotional development, and creative expression. Teachers are expected to create a warm, structured environment that supports each childs individual personality, developmental needs, and learning style. Duties also include observing and addressing health, behavioral, and emotional concerns , maintaining communication with families, and ensuring a safe, clean, and engaging classroom through daily routines and sanitization protocols.
Ajax Cubs provides care for children ages 8 weeks to 5 years old , with dedicated classrooms for infants, toddlers (Lions Den), and preschoolers . Located in Aspen, CO , our program is deeply inspired by the natural environment and aims to offer children a rich, outdoor-connected early learning experience .
Since opening in January 2023 , Ajax Cubs has been building a dynamic team of educators who are excited about the opportunity to help shape a meaningful, community-based early childhood program from the ground up.
(Responsibilities) Job Duties Providing care for children, such as setting schedules and routines, grooming, feeding, and cleaning rooms and toys. Developing and encouraging age-appropriate learning and socialization to ensure children learn basic skills and concepts, such as communication, manners, sharing, etc. Maintaining a safe workplace by monitoring children for health, behavioral, and emotional issues and reporting concerns to staff and parents. Helping children discover new interests by introducing them to art, music, sports, and other potential hobbies. Ensuring children are learning positive behaviors and providing guidance or approved discipline, as needed. Preparing children to enter the next level of care or for entry into school. Keeping records relating to child care. Working with parents to help children progress towards educational and behavioral goals. Competencies Comply with local, state, and federals laws governing childcare Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong leadership and interpersonal skills Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills Friendly and approachable demeanor Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic at all times Adaptable to changing work environment of a startup company Desired Experience Previous experience in an infant classroom or licensed child care setting is strongly preferred. Some college coursework in Early Childhood Education is encouraged but not required. Candidates must also meet Colorado state requirements for Infant Room Lead as outlined in regulation 7.702.45.B.
