Under the supervision of the Director of Early Childhood Services, the employee will plan, implement, and assess a bilingual, language-rich, developmentally appropriate program for four-year-olds which follows NYSOCFS regulations and the guidelines of Ibero Early Childhood Services.

· Reports to the Director of Early Childhood Services.

· Establishes and maintains good working relationships with Ibero staff, staff from related agencies, the Eugenio Maria De Hostos Charter School, and parents

· Performs initial assessment of children to determine child’s progress and update educational programs accordingly using the COR.

· Communicates with parents periodically to inform them about children’s progress.

· Organize and maintain the classroom to ensure that the environment is pleasant, safe and clean.

· Prepares environment to enhance children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development.

· Ensures that classroom meets ECERS criteria.

· Follows Ibero’s policies and procedures and NYSOCFS regulations.

· Maintain daily attendance records, weekly lesson plans and other required documents as assigned.

· Communicates to the Center Director concerning absenteeism, suspicion of child abuse and neglect and/or maltreatment, developmental delays, or inappropriate behavior among the children.

· Inform parents of any health and/or disability concerns regarding children.

· Prepare reports as requested.

· Attend parent-teacher conferences.

· Plans and implements lessons that address group and individual children’s needs.

· Attend team meetings, parent meetings, scheduled staff meetings, trainings and center events as assigned.

· Keeps knowledge of children and families confidential.

· Continue to develop professionally.

· Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Early Childhood Services.

Authority:

Under the general direction of the Director of Early Childhood Services, exercises considerable initiative in making decisions regarding activities in the classroom. The employee supervises and manages the Preschool classroom and assistant Teacher.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

· CDA/AA degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

· Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers.

· Bilingual in English and Spanish required.

· Demonstrates knowledge of child development, early childhood education and appropriate discipline methods.

· Must have clearance through NYS Central Registry, good police record and health.

· Reliable transportation required.

· Must be COVID vaccinated.

· Must obtain a physical exam w/TB test, fingerprinting, and State Clearance.

· A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be accepted by the President and CEO.

Physical Demands:

The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 40 lbs. and frequent standing.
