Position Summary
As a Teacher Aide, you will support classroom staff in creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in early childhood education, special education, or working with children of all abilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the supervision and daily care of children in the classroom, all play areas, and during transitions, ensuring safety at all times
Support implementation of daily routines and classroom schedules, including arrival, meals/snacks, small and large group activities, and dismissal
Foster positive and nurturing relationships with all children, providing responsive interaction and guidance throughout the day
Assist with the preparation and maintenance of materials and classroom environments
Support the implementation of individual student goals and accommodations under the direction of the Lead Teacher and therapy team
Observe and document student behaviors, interactions, and progress, sharing relevant information with classroom staff
Participate actively in classroom planning sessions, team meetings, and professional development opportunities
Communicate respectfully and effectively with families and colleagues
Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and classroom matters
Model and promote inclusive practices and equity within the classroom and broader school community
Assist with classroom hygiene tasks (e.g., handwashing routines, cleaning toys and surfaces, toileting assistance as needed)
Respond calmly and promptly in emergency or crisis situations following school procedures
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or supervisor
Qualifications
High school diploma (required)
Experience with young children and/or children with diverse abilities (required)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Sensitivity to individual needs and diverse backgrounds
Commitment to confidentiality and respectful practice
