RESPONSIBILITIES: As part of the Adelante Mujeres' Early Childhood Education team, the Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for developing strong nurturing relationships with children and families, and planning and implementing culturally appropriate learning experiences that advance the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development of preschool children. The Preschool Lead Teacher will work in partnership with the Teacher Assistant, Instructional Aide, ECE Manager, Coordinator, families, Hillsboro District and/or Forest Grove School District staff to ensure each child's safety, health, and development in accordance with each child's needs and abilities. This position will utilize best practices to provide appropriate services to children and will comply with Adelante Mujeres and the School District policies and procedures, as well as Oregon Office of Childcare regulations in childcare centers. The Preschool Lead Teacher reports to the Early Childhood Education Coordinator. This is a 10-month position from mid-August to mid-June. Establishes a learning environment, which is safe, healthy, interesting, attractive, and responsive to the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development of each child. Guides teaching team through active direction and actual involvement in the care, teaching, guidance, and training of children, ensuring effective program operations. Proficient in leading and implementing Active supervision protocols within the classroom environment. Meets with appropriate staff, parents, and professionals to share curriculum, progress, and needs; assisting in the planning and conducting of parent meetings, team building strategies, and ongoing training of assistant teachers and of volunteers to the program. Provides bilingual, culturally responsive education for preschool children, in accordance with Adelante Mujeres' values and with respect to the perspectives of the children's families.

The ideal candidate has many of the following skills and experience: A passionate commitment to the goals and mission of Adelante Mujeres and support for immigrant and BIPOC communities 2+ years of actual work experience with children between the ages of 3-5 AA/AS in child development, education, children and family studies, special education or related field that includes significant coursework in early childhood education OR BA/BS degree or higher in any field with coursework relating to early childhood education Bilingual-Bicultural Spanish/English required Basic computer skills Prior experience working with low-income Latine families preferred Training and/or education in working with children with special needs preferred Committed to education, social justice, women's empowerment, and the environment.
Additional Requirements: Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of up to 25 pounds Twist, bend, reach, stoop, carry weight, think strategically about how to properly move heavy items Prolonged walking and standing Sit in child size chairs and on floor for ½ hour at time, as appropriate for child-centered activities Complete Criminal Background Registry enrollment letter for facility number CC503161 Have reliable transportation to travel between worksites in a timely manner Ability to travel out of town to attend workshops or trainings Will have occasional evening and weekend work Current Infant & Child First Aid/CPR certification (or acquired within 90 days from date of hire) Current Oregon Food Handler Card (or acquired within 30 days from date of hire) Online training: Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (RRCAN), Prevention is Better Than Treatment (PBTT), and Introduction to Childcare Health and Safety (ICCHS) http://campus.educadium.com/OCCD/
SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary range: $48K-$55K depending on qualifications Classification: Salary , 40 hours per week during August – June.
