Job Title: Preschool Lead Teacher (Ages 3-5)
Location: Detroit, Michigan
Job Type: Part-Time/Full-Time (Typical Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
Wage: Starting at $15.00-25.00/hr

The Lead Preschool Teacher is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and assessment of the educational program for preschool-aged children. This role involves creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that meets the developmental needs of children, fostering a love of learning and promoting positive social interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and engage children in a safe and stimulating classroom environment.
Develop and implement age-appropriate learning activities/Lesson Planning that promotes cognitive, language, social, and emotional development.
Encourage early learning through hands-on activities that foster curiosity, problem-solving, and creative expression.
Monitor childrens behavior and apply positive discipline techniques to promote healthy social development.
Communicate with parents and guardians , providing regular updates on childrens development, progress, and behavior.
Assist with meals and snacks , ensuring children's nutritional needs are met in a clean and organized space.
Support children with personal care needs , including toileting, hygiene, and other daily activities.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom throughout the day.
Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to ensure the smooth operation of the program and an effective learning environment.
Participate in ongoing professional development to stay informed on the latest best practices in early childhood education.
Create developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that encourage childrens growth and learning.
Respond to emergencies, accidents, or behavioral issues following Early Start Childcares policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Child Development Associate (CDA) or willingness to obtain the CDA credential or related degree ( AA, BA, MA) is preferred.
Prior experience in child care or early childhood education, especially with children ages 2-5, is highly preferred.
Knowledge of early childhood development principles and the ability to implement developmentally appropriate practices.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire- this is a requirement).
Strong communication , organizational , and interpersonal skills .
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
A genuine passion for working with young children and a commitment to supporting their growth and well-being.
Must be available to work daytime hours , typically from 7:00 AM to 3:30 or 4:00 PM .
