Early Childhood Assistant Teacher Full-Time | Begins August 2025
The Episcopal Academy seeks a passionate and dedicated full-time Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to join our PK/K team for the 2025-2026 school year. This is an exceptional opportunity for a recent graduate with a degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education to begin their teaching career in a supportive and vibrant independent school community.
About the Position Assistant Teachers at Episcopal work closely with experienced Lead Teachers who mentor and guide their professional growth. In the PK/K classrooms, the assistant supports all aspects of teaching and learning-from leading small-group instruction in reading and math to helping manage the classroom environment and fostering a positive, inclusive community for young learners.
Key Responsibilities
In the PK/K Classroom
Collaborate daily with a Lead Teacher to support instruction, classroom routines, and student development.
Work with small groups of students on foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
Help plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.
Engage actively in creating a warm, safe, and joyful classroom environment.
Afternoon Enrichment Program
Under the guidance of the Assistant Head of Lower School, design and lead engaging, hands-on activities for Lower School students.
Promote creativity, collaboration, and discovery during extended day hours.
Ensure a nurturing and well-supervised environment for all participants.
Assistant Teachers are also encouraged to become involved in the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and coaching.
About You
You hold a BA in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
You have experience working with young children (student teaching or internships welcome).
You bring enthusiasm, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit to your work.
You are excited to learn from experienced educators and grow as a teacher.
