A well-established progressive Early Childhood and Elementary School based in Queens is seeking an innovative, creative, and knowledgeable Pre-K for ALL (4-year-olds) Lead Teacher. The ideal candidates will have experience teaching in early childhood settings, knowledge of the Reggio Emilia Approach or a commitment to learning. S/he will be a positive school community member and will enjoy working collaboratively with a team and building positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Responsibilities: Curriculum Development & Implementation : Design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate, and stimulating learning experiences for 4-year-olds, drawing upon progressive educational methodologies, such as the Reggio Emilia Approach, or a willingness to learn and adopt these methods. Classroom Management : Foster a warm and inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and social-emotional growth. Child Assessment : Regularly assess and document students’ growth and development, using formative and summative assessment tools. Adjust teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual students. Parent Communication : Maintain open, consistent communication with parents and guardians through meetings, progress reports, and newsletters to ensure a strong school-home connection. Collaboration : Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to meet the needs of all students, promoting teamwork and a collaborative spirit. Professional Development : Stay current with early childhood education practices by participating in training sessions, workshops, and ongoing learning opportunities. Compliance : Ensure all activities comply with Pre-K for All program requirements, health and safety standards, and school policies. Requirements: NYS ECE Certification B.A. or M.A. Degree in Early Childhood Education Minimum 1 year of classroom experience (preferred) Have a constructivist approach to education. Be creative, thoughtful, self-reflective, a problem solver, & a lifelong learner. Work collaboratively with partner teachers and across disciplines in the creation of meaningful, engaging, and authentic learning experiences for students.
