Title: Pre-K Assistant Teacher
Job Goal: To assist the Pre-K teacher in facilitating school readiness skills and concepts that prepare students for transition into kindergarten
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Principal and Pre-K Teacher
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least nine (9) hours of Early Childhood Education college coursework
- At least one (1) year experience in a Pre-K setting
- Good public relations skills
- Ability to understand the unique needs and learning characteristics of students
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team member with large and/or diverse groups
- Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities
- Proficiency in oral, written, and electronic communications
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and perform assignments as directed with accuracy, attention to detail, and within established time frames

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates support for the school system, its purpose, direction, and

- Assists the Pre-K teacher in implementing curriculum and programming specific to the needs of all
- Assists the Pre-K teacher in identifying maintenance

- Supervises students as
- Assists the Pre-K teacher in providing appropriate classroom safety procedures in accordance with state and local
- Participates in district meetings, state meetings, and other activities that relate to professional development and effective school instruction as approved by the school
- Participates in the school improvement process and the implementation of school improvement plans, accreditation and accountability reports, and other required plans.

- Assists the Pre-K teacher to manage the student behavior in the classroom and participates in the management of students in other areas of the school and school

Salary: Based on the St. Clair County School System Salary Schedule
Terms of Employment: 187 days
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated according to board policy.
