Play Patrol Company is seeking a passionate, experienced, and highly creative Senior Preschool Music Instructor to lead our early childhood music programming across multiple partner sites. This role is ideal for a seasoned educator with a deep love for music, a talent for engaging young children, and a drive to shape innovative and enriching musical experiences.
The Senior Preschool Music Instructor will collaborate closely with our Director of Innovative Learning to co-develop lesson plans and music curriculum that align with child development best practices and our company's mission. This individual will also play a key leadership role in mentoring and training new music instructors , ensuring high-quality instruction across all programs.
Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum & Lesson Planning
Collaborate with the Director of Innovative Learning to develop and refine music lesson plans and curriculum tailored to children ages 0–5.
Ensure all music activities align with developmental milestones and incorporate movement, rhythm, vocal play, instrument exploration, and multicultural musical elements.
Pilot new curriculum initiatives and provide feedback to enhance engagement and learning outcomes.
Classroom Instruction
Deliver high-energy, engaging, and developmentally appropriate music classes at preschool and early childhood education partner sites, as well as some K-5 programming.
Foster a joyful and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates music, creativity, and diversity.
Adapt teaching methods to support varying developmental needs, learning styles, and classroom dynamics.
Mentorship & Training
Serve as a mentor and role model for new music instructors.
Provide hands-on support during onboarding, including classroom modeling, co-teaching sessions, and feedback.
Assist with periodic professional development sessions to ensure instructional consistency and quality.
Program Leadership
Support the Director of Innovative Learning in evaluating program effectiveness through observation, instructor feedback, and classroom outcomes.
Help maintain educational standards and troubleshoot instructional challenges at partner sites.
Represent Play Patrol’s music programming in a leadership capacity during events, community outreach, and client meetings as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field (Master’s degree a plus)
Minimum 3 years of experience teaching music in a preschool or early childhood setting
Strong vocal and/or instrumental ability with proficiency in accompanying instruments (e.g., guitar, ukulele, percussion)
Deep understanding of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practice
Experience writing lesson plans and working with curriculum frameworks
Excellent classroom management and child engagement skills
Strong interpersonal communication skills with adults and children
Passion for mentorship and collaborative work
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to partner sites
Schedule & Compensation
This is a part-time position that can become a full-time position, depending on availability and assigned locations
Competitive hourly rate based on experience, with opportunities for advancement
Includes paid curriculum planning and professional development time
