Certified Physical Education Teacher (#044) Part or Full Time/Academic Calendar/ TRB Eligible Location Negotiable: one school site (in Torrington) or multiple sites (Terryville, Danbury) Starting August 25, 2025; Position is open until filled

Our skilled team collaborates closely with students, families, and districts to design a comprehensive plan that addresses the educational, social-emotional, and transitional needs of each student.
Job Description : EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to provide physical education activities which strengthen our students' physical, behavioral, emotional, social and academic skills. The hours of this position are flexible and can range from part-time (minimum, 3 days per week) to full-time. The qualified candidate will be professional, organized, and able to work independently.
Major Responsibilities: Strengthen and develop activities aligned to physical education standards for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage and motivate students Utilize restorative practices to help students regulate their behavior, develop perspective-taking, and take personal responsibility for their actions Collaborates with the special education teacher and other school staff who are part of each student's team Other duties as may be assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: At least 2 years of experience teaching is preferred Interest in working with students with trauma and challenging behaviors Excellent verbal and written communication skills Demonstrate flexibility in response to unpredictability of student academic and behavioral needs Ability to withstand the physical demands of frequent standing, bending, kneeling and therapeutic holding as required
Qualifications/Requirements: Current Connecticut Certification in Physical Education (#044) Those with dual certification in Special Education (#165, #265) are encouraged to apply Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this job Reliable transportation is required (mileage reimbursement is applicable) Physically able to perform emergency restraint techniques - training/certification is provided
