About Sussex Montessori School: Sussex Montessori School was approved as a charter school by the Delaware Department of Education in April 2018, and opened our doors in the Fall of 2020. We currently serve about 400 students in grades K-6. The Sussex Montessori School Board believes that the creation of a Montessori public school in Sussex County, DE will improve student learning, allow for greater choice for parents, and serve as a model for alternative approaches to education by providing a proven and innovative teaching and learning environment.

Location: Seaford, Delaware

Duties: Plan and lead Physical Education classes for mixed age classrooms of K1, 2-3, and 4-6 grade students. Prepare and maintain the school and classroom environment; Observe students and discuss observations with classroom teachers; Model grace and courtesy; Assist each child in the development of independence; Take responsibility for the safety and physical well-being of the children at all times; Supervise children in the classroom, on the playground, and on the athletic fields at all times; Help to maintain current, accurate, individual progress notes, attendance records, incidental notes and weekly overview of class work; Assist in on-going communication with parents regarding children's specific needs and school operational needs; Participate in parent/teacher meetings and any other meetings deemed necessary by the Director of Teaching and Learning Assists with developing other projects, programs, and planning as requested by the Director of Teaching and Learning Required Qualifications: Associate's Degree Demonstrated understanding of diversity, educational equity, and multicultural education Delaware Paraeducator Permit Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Education Teaching experience highly preferred with a proven record of high achievement Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field Certification within the State of Delaware CPR and First Aid certification (preferred) Montessori Experience Fluent in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole
